Sagrada Família Tickets: Which One to Buy, Tower Access and What to Do If Sold Out
We earn a commission if you book through some links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It never decides what we recommend. How we make money
Buy on sagradafamilia.org: the basic ticket is €26 and the tower ticket €36 (checked 22 Oct 2026), the site charges no booking fee, and only tickets bought there can be changed or refunded by the Basilica. Add a tower only if you want the city view and everyone in your group is at least 6. If your date is sold out (on 22 Oct the official calendar had nothing until 16 Nov), a guided tour with its own allocation, such as the €81 visit in the Turisme de Barcelona shop, is the realistic fallback.

Is the Sagrada Família open right now?
Yes. On 22 Oct 2026 the Basilica was open and the official ticket shop was selling timed entries. The official calendar listed the regular Saturday-evening and Sunday-morning masses, and the latest news item was dated 16 Oct.
You may have seen a line saying “The Basilica of the Sagrada Família is temporarily closed to the public”, quoted from sagradafamilia.org by search snippets or AI tools. That sentence does exist in the code of the official tickets page. It belongs to a hidden block labelled internally for ticketing outages (the shop runs on a system called Clorian), and a normal browser did not display it when we loaded the page on 22 Oct 2026. If that notice ever shows up on screen while you browse the official site, take it seriously and check the news page before you travel.
Opening hours (official, checked 22 Oct 2026):
| Period | Monday–Friday | Saturday | Sunday |
|---|---|---|---|
| November–February | 9:00–18:00 | 9:00–18:00 | 10:30–18:00 |
| March and October | 9:00–19:00 | 9:00–18:00 | 10:30–19:00 |
| April–September | 9:00–20:00 | 9:00–18:00 | 10:30–20:00 |
On 25 and 26 December and 1 and 6 January the Basilica opens 9:00–14:00. The Foundation can change hours for events in the Basilica. Visitors are asked to leave 15 minutes before closing.
Which Sagrada Família ticket should you buy?
Four ticket types are sold to individuals (groups of up to 9 people). Every one includes the audio guide, which you download in the official app. Prices below are adult prices from the official site, checked 22 Oct 2026.
| Ticket | Adult price | What you get | Official duration | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sagrada Família | €26 | Basilica and museum for as long as you like, app audio guide (45-min standard or 25-min express version) | About 1 h | Most visitors |
| With guided tour | €30 | The above plus a guided tour of about 50 minutes; the museum is visited on your own afterwards | About 1 h | First-timers who want the symbolism explained |
| With tower | €36 | Basic entry plus one tower: lift up, stairs down | About 1 h 30 min | View-seekers aged 6+ with no mobility or vertigo issues |
| With guided tour and tower | €40 | Guided tour plus one tower | About 1 h 30 min | The full version |
Neither the towers nor the crypt are included in the basic ticket. All four are sold on the official individual tickets page.
Our take: the basic ticket is enough for most people, because the interior is the reason to come, and you see the stained glass and the columns with any ticket. The guided tour costs only €4 more and is good value if you would rather listen to a person than to an app. We would only add a tower if seeing the city from the façades matters to you.
Which towers can you climb in 2026, and what about the Tower of Jesus Christ?
Tower tickets cover one tower, chosen when you book: on the Nativity façade (views over the east side of the city) or on the Passion façade (views towards the city centre). The central Tower of Jesus Christ (172.5 m) cannot be visited:
- 20 Feb 2026: the top arm of its cross was put in place, which finished the exterior.
- 10 June 2026: Pope Leo XIV blessed the tower.
- Next: the Basilica says work will continue inside the structure in 2027 and 2028. In May 2026 the head architect said a lift was being installed.
As of 22 Oct 2026, the official site gives no date for public visits to the central tower. If a seller offers you a ticket “to the tallest tower”, treat that as a warning sign.
Tower rules from the official conditions of sale:
- Children: under-6s cannot go up, and anyone aged 6–16 must be with an adult.
- Health and mobility: people with reduced mobility cannot go up, nor can pregnant visitors or people with vertigo, heart or breathing problems. Wheelchairs and pushchairs aren’t allowed.
- Bags: backpacks and bags go in lockers before you go up. These are the only lockers on site, and there is no luggage storage for suitcases.
- Closures: towers close in bad weather and for breakdowns or maintenance. The conditions of sale promise a refund of the tower part of the ticket, not the entry. The tower product page says the opposite (“no reimbursements will be given… if the towers are closed”). Keep your booking email and write to customer@ext.sagradafamilia.org if it happens.
How do you recognise the official Sagrada Família ticket site?
The official channels are:
- sagradafamilia.org: prices and product pages.
- tickets.sagradafamilia.org: the shop the “Buy tickets” buttons go to. Its footer reads “Powered by clorian”.
- The official Sagrada Família app: for iOS and Android.
The homepage describes itself as the official ticket vendor with “no commissions or processing fees”.
Look-alike sites usually put “sagrada”, “familia” and “tickets” into the domain name. Two of the sites ranking for “sagrada familia tickets” on 22 Oct 2026:
| Site | Who runs it (its own words) | What it showed on 22 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| sagrada-familia-tickets.com | TourScanner; “This website is not the official website of the Sagrada Familia” | Cheapest option: an entry with audio guide and optional towers via Headout, from €32.50. The official basic ticket is €26. |
| sagradafamiliatickets.tours | “An official part of the Tickets&Tours Online Travel Platform”; booking buttons go to GetYourGuide | “Fast-Track Ticket with Tower Access”, €33 |
These are reseller and comparison sites, not necessarily scams. Buying through them changes your rights, though. The Basilica’s conditions of sale say:
- It does not accept tickets bought through resellers, except distributors it has expressly authorised. We could not find a published list of those distributors.
- It does not handle changes or refunds for tickets bought from intermediaries.
- Tickets are nominative and cannot be resold, and staff can refuse entry with a resold ticket.
Checks before you pay:
- Domain. Is it sagradafamilia.org or tickets.sagradafamilia.org? Anything else is not the Basilica.
- Price. Compare with the table above: €26, €30, €36 or €40 for an adult. A higher price for the same product is a reseller markup. A much lower one is a red flag.
- “Official” in the title, disclaimer in the footer. Read the small print before trusting the page title.
- “Skip-the-line” as the selling point. Every official ticket is already timed, and the Basilica says advance ticket holders go in without waiting. Everyone goes through the same security check.
- Links from SMS, email or social media. Type the address yourself. Catalonia’s Cybersecurity Agency advises buying through the official channel and not opening ticket shops from email or SMS links.
This is not theoretical. On 10 Aug 2026 the news site APD Noticies reported that the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya had found AI-built clones of official ticket sites for places such as the Sagrada Família and Montserrat. Their advice was to distrust prices that look too low. We could not find the original police notice, so treat the details as press reporting.
What can you do if Sagrada Família tickets are sold out?
When we checked the official calendar on 22 Oct 2026 (around 15:00), every individual ticket type showed “No availability” up to 15 November. Tower tickets were sold out up to 16 November. The first open dates still had only single tickets left in several morning slots. Sales were open up to 31 January 2027. The calendar changes constantly, so this is a snapshot, not a forecast. Options that actually existed on that date:
- Keep checking the official calendar, and the on-site QR codes. Single tickets appear in individual time slots. The Basilica also sells tickets on the spot through QR codes placed around the building, subject to that day’s capacity. Don’t fly in counting on it.
- Book a guided tour that holds its own places. The Sagrada Família guided visit in the Turisme de Barcelona shop (operated by IberianEvents) had sessions from 3 November, plus one tower session on 25 October, while the official calendar was empty. It costs €81 in English (€82 in Spanish or French) and €99 with a tower (checked 22 Oct 2026), against €30 or €40 for the official guided tickets. Bookings cannot be changed or refunded.
- Use a pass that includes a guided tour. Go City lists a Sagrada Família guided tour among the attractions on its Barcelona passes. You must reserve a time slot through its booking partner with your pass number, and we could not check how many slots it had left. The Barcelona Card does not include the Sagrada Família (see our Barcelona Card page).
- Attend Mass. The international Mass is free, with limited places: Sundays and holy days at 9:00, and Saturdays at 20:00. You enter through the Nativity façade on Carrer de la Marina. This is a religious service, not a sightseeing visit: there is no tour, and the official page asks attendees to dress appropriately and behave respectfully.
Combo tickets (Sagrada Família plus Park Güell, for example) are sold by resellers. We could not verify their availability or conditions on 22 Oct 2026, so we don’t recommend any here.
When is the best time of day to visit?
For the light, it depends on which windows you care about. The Basilica’s own blog explains the design:
- Morning: the sun comes in from the east, through the cool blue glass on the Nativity side.
- Late afternoon: the setting sun lights the red and orange glass on the Passion side.
- Weeks around the solstices (20–21 June and 21–22 December): the effect is strongest. In winter the low setting sun shines straight through the Passion-side windows.
In our editorial opinion, for the warm colours most photos show, book one of the last slots before closing. From November that means before 18:00, and you still have to leave 15 minutes before closing. If you want calm, the 9:00–10:00 slot is the daily quiet hour (since 2 Feb 2026): headphones are required for audio guides and phones, and visitors must keep silent.
What are the dress code and security rules?
From the official rules (checked 22 Oct 2026):
- Clothing: no see-through clothing and no swimwear. Shorts and skirts must reach at least mid-thigh. No bare feet, and no festive costumes or decorations meant to draw attention.
- Hats: none inside the nave or the museum, except for religious or health reasons.
- Shoulders: bare shoulders are not allowed in the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament.
- Security: bags are checked and you pass a metal detector. Dangerous items, narcotics and food or drink from outside are refused. Leaving the big backpack at the hotel makes the check faster.
- Inside: no eating or smoking, and drinking is allowed only outside the building. No tripods.
- Arrival and re-entry: arrive in your time slot, because late arrivals are not admitted. Once you leave, you cannot go back in.

How long should you spend inside?
The Basilica’s estimates are about 1 hour for the basic or guided ticket and about 1 hour 30 minutes with a tower. The audio guide takes 45 minutes in its standard version and 25 in the express one. The basic ticket lets you stay as long as you like. Our estimate is 1 h 30 min to 2 hours with the museum, plus the security check, but nobody from our team has timed it yet.
How do you get to the Sagrada Família?
- Metro: L2 or L5 to Sagrada Família station.
- Bus: routes 19, 33, 34, D50, H10 and B24.
- Entrances: individual visitors use the general entrance on the Nativity façade, on Carrer de la Marina. Visitors with disabilities or reduced mobility use entrance B on the same street. Wheelchairs can be borrowed there, subject to availability.
If you are coming from a cruise ship, our cruise port guide covers the transfer times.
What discounts are there on Sagrada Família tickets?
Official prices by category (checked 22 Oct 2026). Proof is required at the door:
| Category | Basic | Guided | Tower | Guided + tower |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General | €26 | €30 | €36 | €40 |
| Seniors | €21 | €23 | €28 | €32 |
| Under 30 / student card | €24 | €28 | €34 | €38 |
| Under 11 | Free | Free | Free | Free |
| People with disabilities | Free | Free | Free | Free |
| Companion of a person with disabilities | Free | €4 | €10 | €14 |
Discounts that have to be requested by email at least 48 hours in advance, with proof:
- 50% off: large and single-parent families.
- 50% off: Barcelona city residents, through a separate resident address.
- Free basic entry: unemployed visitors, Wednesdays 9:00–12:00 only.
- Free basic entry: press card holders.
The Carnet Jove gets 50% off automatically if you choose “Under 30” when buying. ICOM members also go free. Children under 3 need no ticket.
Can you cancel or change a Sagrada Família ticket?
As a general rule, no. The official rules allow an exchange or refund only for unused tickets, and only when something outside your control stops the visit, such as:
- a closure;
- an event scheduled at short notice;
- bad weather;
- a documented reason you can’t attend.
You must ask at least 48 hours before the visit, or provide official proof if it is later. Write to customer@ext.sagradafamilia.org within 15 days of the original date. A new date is subject to availability. If the Basilica itself closes, refunds are made automatically to your payment method. Tickets bought from resellers or tour operators follow the seller’s rules, not the Basilica’s. The Turisme guided visit, for example, cannot be changed or refunded.
More ticket decisions are in our Barcelona monument tickets hub.
How we checked this page
- Official pages read on 22 Oct 2026 (rendered in a browser, accordions expanded):
- from sagradafamilia.org: the homepage, the tickets chooser and the individual tickets page, all four product pages, prices, FAQs, rules and regulations, conditions of sale, opening hours and getting there, the worship page, and the news releases of 20 Feb and 21 May 2026;
- the booking calendars of all four products on tickets.sagradafamilia.org;
- the Gaudí Year 2026 release of 10 June 2026;
- the official blog post on the stained glass (18 June 2025).
- The “temporarily closed” notice: we compared the raw HTML of sagradafamilia.org/en/tickets with the page as displayed in a browser, with a screenshot, on 22 Oct 2026.
- Turisme de Barcelona shop: the product page and its booking calendar for October and November 2026, read 22 Oct 2026.
- Read through a fetched-page summary only, 22 Oct 2026: Go City’s Sagrada Família tour page, the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya page on ticket fraud, the APD Noticies article and the two reseller sites in the table.
- Not checked: GetYourGuide pages refused our requests, so we list no GetYourGuide product. We could not find the original Mossos notice on cloned sites.
- Our own work: the ticket comparison and discount tables, the sold-out snapshot, and the tower-rule summary.
- Not first-hand yet: nobody from our team has visited for this page, bought a ticket, climbed a tower or timed the security check. The visit length beyond the Basilica’s own estimates and the light advice are editorial, and there are no photos of our own yet.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Sagrada Família temporarily closed?
No. On 22 Oct 2026 the Basilica was open with normal hours and the official shop was selling tickets. The 'temporarily closed to the public' sentence that some tools quote is a hidden fallback message in the ticket page's code, not a notice shown to visitors.
Can you go up the new Tower of Jesus Christ?
Not as of 22 Oct 2026. Its exterior was finished on 20 Feb 2026 and it was blessed on 10 June 2026, but interior works continue in 2027 and 2028. Tower tickets cover one tower on the Nativity or the Passion façade.
What is the official website for Sagrada Família tickets?
sagradafamilia.org. Its ticket shop runs on tickets.sagradafamilia.org, and the official Sagrada Família app also sells tickets. Any other domain is a reseller, however official it looks.
Can I buy Sagrada Família tickets for today or at the door?
There is no ticket office: tickets are sold online only. The Basilica says you can buy on the spot through QR codes placed around the building, but only if that day's capacity allows. When we checked on 22 Oct 2026, nothing was left before 16 Nov.
Can I cancel or change my Sagrada Família ticket?
As a general rule, no. The Basilica only exchanges or refunds unused tickets in specific cases, such as a closure or an incident outside your control. You must ask at least 48 hours before your visit, or bring official proof if it is later. Exchanges must be for a date within 15 days.
Do children need a ticket, and who gets a discount?
Under-11s go free (under-3s need no ticket at all), and anyone under 16 must be with an adult. Seniors pay €21, and students and under-30s pay €24 for the basic ticket. People with disabilities go free, and so do their companions on the basic ticket (checked 22 Oct 2026).
Do I need ID to enter the Sagrada Família?
Yes. Tickets carry each visitor's name, and you must show official photo ID that matches. If you bought a reduced ticket, you also need proof that you qualify.
